You know it’s NFL scouting combine week when we hear talk of how big a quarterback’s hands are.

One of the more curious phenomena of the combine coverage is the overreaction to hand size. Good or bad, you’re going to hear more about how big a quarterback’s hands are than you ever expected.

In the case of presumptive first overall pick Joe Burrow, the news of his hand measurement will be a part of the conversation surrounding his draft stock. And the news was not great.

Oh brother - here's what Pat Mahomes had to say to Burrow after he tweeted about his hand size:

"My small hands are doing alright so far....i believe in ya"

Mahomes also measured in the combine with a small hand size. He's the best QB in football right now. The best QB of the last 20 years and arguably of all time is Tom Brady - his measureables were terrible. Any team which passes up Burrow because of his hand size deserves the losing they'll keep doing.

My fingers are just a tad too short to grip a football effectively and throw a decent pass. With a basketball I can spread the fingers for good control of the shot or pass, but that does not help grip the football. Oh well, the kids don’t let me play football with them anyway and few of the old guys are interested...basketball’s another story. Play 2-4 times a week, adult rec at the local high school and outdoors weather permitting on weekends. Those 40-50 year old kids are rough on this old body, though!

If the Bungles pass on him, the Redskins should draft him.
