I've heard the fatality rate may be as much as 3%, but so far the statistics from the honest first world countries put it at far less. I heard from a friend in Japan (where they are not big on panic and hype) that they are limiting public gatherings as to size and duration.

So, yeah, it is a big worry. Dow Jones is down over 1,000 just today.
