40 years ago today, sports announcing legend Al Michaels gave the call to the end of the most influential sporting event in the history of the United States, the medal round match between the US and the Soviet Union. A group of American college kids beat the Soviet hockey team, who at the time was considered the most formidible hockey team in Olympic history. The United States went on to beat Finland and win the gold medal.
Of greater significance, this game was considered the spark that reignited the American spirit, which had been wrung through the wringer through the malaise of the seventies, which had culminated with the Iranian hostage crisis. In the aftermath of the game, Ronald Reagan would be elected, starting the revolution that would topple the Berlin wall and the desolution of the very country the hockey team beat.

To solve the puzzle:
- Enter the letters in the top half (letter columns) of the puzzle into the white squares on the bottom half (answer grid) below
- Each letter must stay in its own column within the grid
- Each letter must be used exactly once
- Black squares represent spaces and do not get letters
- Gray squares represent punctuation marks or numbers and do not get letters
