Friend of mine was working in China for a couple of weeks and ran into a very junior official in Beijing. It was just after the Olympics they had banned vehicle traffic to clear the air. He asked the official why they don’t keep banning traffic, since it would be healthier for their people. The guy replied...”no problem...China has MANY people.” Point is, they don’t care. This is a way of thinning their herd. The only problem for them is it’s affecting others outside their borders now.

was supposed to thin the Japanese herd not Chinese - there are many problems: for one, they’ve just lost one of the PLAAN’s newest frigates to the virus; their economy is crashing which means that party officials are not getting paid and, that creates a political security risk that must be fixed at all costs

Oops. Easing up of their one child per couple didn’t work to thin the herd enough.
