This sounds like AG Barr is challenging California to either attempt to arrest an ICE agent for enforcing federal law or setting up a situation where ICE will need to arrest a California law enforcement/court official for interfering in an ICE arrest in order to set up a USSC case. I would love to see a California L/E attempt to make an arrest on an ICE agent.
Yeah....pushback on insubordination be ugly.
Good bad or other wise.
No think of federal agents enforcing unconstitutional firearms laws and local Leo’s resisting.
“I would love to see a California L/E attempt to make an arrest on an ICE agent.”
Actually, that would be very bad. All of the arguments and brouhaha should stay in the administrative/legal area. About 25 years ago I saw a Florida Highway Patrol trooper writing a ticket near Miami for a local cop on the highway. I asked a retired FHP guy at my gym in Tallahassee. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. Yes, he knew all about it. There was some very bad blood between the agencies due to the heavy handed nature (apparently physical threats) of the cops union who had jurisdiction at a stadium where the FHP had been hired for off duty security. It almost sounded like a Mafia turf fight. (Off duty, uniformed security is a much coveted highly paid gig.)
The retired guy said the damage done by the tit for tat was huge. Ultimately, the loser is any civilian who gets caught in the bureaucratic anger between agencies.
