I am a serial degree alum from the 70’s.
Ohio University claims Jefferson as its founder as he called its establishment out in the Northwest Ordinance.
In a library alcove in the Old Student Union, finished in Ohio black oak, mounted over Jefferson’s bust and surrounded by his written and collected works, it quoted Ol’Thom.....
“Upon the altar of almighty God, I have sworn eternal hostility toward any form of tyranny over the mind of man.”
When I first saw it as an 18 year old in 1975, it had a powerful impact and has continued to guide me to this day.
