Worries grow as moderates split Democratic vote

Bloomberg's presence in the race has raised concerns that a four-way fight for the moderate vote will mean no centrist alternative emerges to Sanders, leading to a long slog to the nomination that leaves Democrats with little time to unify before taking on President Trump in November.

"At the moment, they're cannibalizing each other," Democratic strategist Jon Reinish said. "You have no one who can really emerge while they're all taking votes from each other."

The splintering of the moderate vote is diluting the impact of centrist Democrats.

Democratic moderates will also have to contend with as ascendant Bloomberg, who has spent hundreds of millions of dollars in an advertising blitz.

"Given this sort of three-way cannibalization that's going on at the moment, that's making a lot of people very nervous and increasingly folks are looking around the room, and eyes are lighting on Mike Bloomberg," Reinish said.

The splintered moderate votes could lead to Sanders reaping the benefits, after poor showings by Warren in Iowa and New Hampshire have made him the progressive candidate standard bearer.

No such species as a moderate. If there was...they’re either a commie or they don’t know what a commie is. Or both.

Calls to memory the Russian Revolution and the “Democratic” Workers party led by Lenin. The party split into two factions...Those that agreed with Lenin who wanted a wholesale revolution and rule by force by him, on behalf of the proletariat...the Bolshieviks ..and those who wanted to bring about Marxism more slowly with a step-by-step approach...the Menshieviks.

The Democrat party of today is going through the very same split.

FWIW, there’s no split. But if looks like there’s one then the ‘Rats might scare off fewer voters.

A “moderate” wants “free” food, housing, health care, education etc. for fifty million illegal aliens.

A “radical” wants the same for six billion illegal aliens.

_That_ is today’s Democratic Party.

Moderate to the left = tone and demeanor. Not policy or ideology, they are not to be disagreed with.

There are no moderates. The DLC is long gone. Democrats chased out of the party anyone who wouldn’t subscribe to the liberal ideology.

They’re not even a big tent party. The current situation they brought all upon themselves.

None of their candidates are very appealing to non-white voters. That’s a huge part of the Democratic primary electorate. It’s probably well over half. The wine aunts love the gay mayor or Fauxcahontas. The college kids love Bernie. Nobody believes Biden can win. Bloomberg is trying a new way to build support; by buying it through television ads.

The “moderates” aren’t really any more divided than the “radicals”. If Warren drops out, Bernie probably benefits the most. If the queer mayor drops out, a good part of that support also probably goes to Bernie. If Biden drops out, his supporters probably go to Bloomberg and that screechy Senator from the Midwest that throws things at her staff.

The Establishment has to hope that Biden drops out and that things realign behind Bloomberg. Otherwise, Bernie takes the nomination. They all look like midgets compared to the President.

Moderates? Where? Leftist media keeps saying that, but not a single dang one of the rat candidates could even be considered remotely moderate. Not even some FReepers dream girl, Gabby.

Someone is going to go 3rd party. Probably Bernie.

Then we’ll see a split the size of the Grand Canyon.

I don’t think many white voters are attracted to their candidates either. The democrats are in real trouble no matter which one of these misfits wins the nomination. It’s telling that mini mike and the frumpy felon are the great white hope of the party. Good luck with that ticket. I bet it will come up very short.

I doesn’t look like their candidates are appealing to many voters at all. It’s a sorry slate, that’s for sure. They don’t have an Obama in this field. They don’t even have a Hillary ... yet. Biden is like their version of Dole, McCain, and Romney, all rolled into one. I love it. Watching them flail around is great.

The only one even remotely near a moderate, Tulsi Gabbard is polling less than one percent.
