I’m a fan of Geezer Butler, Jack Bruce and Bill Wyman.

But technically, John Entwistle was a better musician.

Stylistically, he usually leaves me cold.

Maybe it was the band and the songs.

I go back and forth between him and Chris Squire. I’ll just leave it at both were great, and are sorely missed.

I'm with ya on this DF ... I've been to over 300 *major* concerts since the early 70's, lots of the 'greats', but there are only two who I've seen more than 15 times each --- YES, and The Who !!!

Unfortunately only my first 4 Who shows were with the OX (the first being with Moonie on drums, 1974 NYC), but all my YES shows were with Chris Squire ... truly a magnificent Bassist, and a real inspiration :)

The bass line on The Real Me from Quadrophenia is a top 10 all-time bass work.

I saw Chris about a year before he died, and he had it until the end. The young guy they hired to replace him is quite good though. Bass line on South Side of the Sky might be my favorite Chris Squire effort.

Best. Bass. Player. Ever.

Stanley Clarke might beg to differ   ;-)

Yes it is. Also check out “Thunder Fingers” completely take the lead on the live version of Dreaming From the Waist from the remastered Who By Numbers LP. Amazing.

I saw them on their ‘final tour’ maybe around 1980.
