ended up with about 1/3 of his lungs (most of one actually, the other is effectively dead) functioning well, after rehab.
That reminds me of the "recovered" numbers. How many will have long term disabilities where they can no longer work or need assistance with daily living?
That is something missing in the discussion of recovery. For instance those on ECMO will have a long and probably not complete recovery. Something we will have to watch.

BTW, just to clarify, by “dead” I meant non-functional, not Star Trek red-shirt guy “dead”. One lung is nearly 100% scar tissue.
