I think they get something like a dopamine hit from being offended, like they cannot be happy unless they feel they have a reason to be offended.
That’s why when a blatant SJW says that they’re offended I say “you’re welcome” and if they demand an explanation I can say they are so eagerly offended that they must at some level like being offended ... so if they say thanks or no by offending them I’m helping them to be happy.
