I think it’s okay for families to decide for themselves how they’re going to allocate wealth between generations. At least if you put some of your wealth into helping your children get established, the government can’t take it from you.

My sister and I shake our heads at how we’ve treated our kids, all the help we’ve given them. We were both out of the house shortly after HS. She went to work, and I went to college (on full scholarship). I paid for my dorm with my summer earnings.

They’ve all turned out ok, so no complaints.

Well, maybe a couple...lol.
