I can’t see how leaving everyone on that ship is a good idea. They need a make shift hospital setup otherwise everyone on that ship is going to be exposed. Tough situation.

I had the same thought.

Quarantine them, but in more med-friendly, and more humane, facilities.

Better part of 20 years ago, some "bug" was hitting cruise ships.

Disney's ABC "News" barely reported that some cruise ships were having medical issues, but didn't once mention that Disney Cruise Line had the largest number of affected (infected?) ships out of the bunch, or was among the cruise lines involved.

So, extrapolating that industry-wide, I'd bet that any media outlet with an alleged news organization is valuing ad $$$ over audience health.

They should just think of it as an extended bonus cruise for their money. By the way, are they democrats?

Evacuating to the same holding facility as that jet that landed in the Pacific Northwest would be a decent compromise.

I was on a cruise once. Great food and entertainment, the best of which was frequent sex with my Mrs. to the rhythm of a gently rocking boat in the lowest cost interior cabin.

When I started cruising in the late 1960s, I always got the less expensive inside cabins.

Now that I am an old train wreck, I go for the balcony cabins. -tom

I strongly prefer good all inclusive resorts to cruise ships. Sandals is still my favorite of those but you can get similar amenities and only slightly worse food/alcohol than Sandals for a lot cheaper. My parents are going all inclusive for 8 nights in caribbean to a 4* place with flights for $1850 later this year ($925/person). And the rooms are 3x the size of a cruise ship cabin and no kids.

“with food and water running out”

That’s the part of this I can’t begin to comprehend. I read yesterday on one of the ships a guy said they were eating lettuce sandwiches. I cannot believe they can’t get food and water to the ships.

Even if they are “covered” by lawsuits, the legal costs to litigate them could run in the tens of millions, if not more. But yeah this will cause many of them to lose a HUGE amount of their business in 2020 and beyond.

Wait until the passengers (or their next of kin) sue the cruise line.

I am not a lawyer, but I believe when you book passage on a ship, you fall under some very old laws that aren’t what you likely expect. My mother was on a cruise that got hit by an outbreak of illness. Passengers were ordered to stay in their rooms. Once couple refused. They felt fine, they’d paid for a cruise and they were going to enjoy themselves. They were put off the ship at the next port and told to make their own way back home.

Stuck in a cabin on your honeymoon doesn’t sound too bad. Stuck in a cabin on your 25th anniversary is another story@

Cruise ships are little more than floating petri dishes.

This is what people who can't afford cruises like to say.

I've had nothing but great experiences on cruise ships. Well except for the one time I had raw fish at midnight buffet and was sick for three days.

I mentioned on earlier thread that this is a good opportunity to get some books read - being held "captive" on a docked cruise ship and all. But these are honeymooners. They will have more sex during these few weeks then they will for the rest of their marriage. I hope they have some fun.

Trump cannot help. Standard medical procedures must be followed.

Nope, its definitely far more likely on a cruise ship than other vacations for a number of reasons. I spend $20k a year for my wife and I to travel around the world, so I can assure you its not a thing about affordability. You never hear about these kinds of outbreaks at hotels or resorts for a reason. Cruise ships? Very frequent. Plus, I'd much rather be on land than a tight quarter boat with thousands of people. Of just people I know, one had a bomb threat that had his cruise ship cancelled, 2 were stuck on board for days without electricity with engine failure and 2 had bugs hit more than half the ship. I'll stick with resorts and hotels.

A Brit couple on this ship are on youtube saying they are getting three meals a day and aren’t hungry. They get 2 liters of water each per day in addition to other drinks. The cruise company is making movies available in their cabin and giving crossword puzzles and decks of cards to the passengers. They were interviwed by a Brit news channel.
