I’m not sure who you mean is not trying. A significant number of the Dems are trying to express their emotions, and I believe they are succeeding in accurately expressing their emotions.
Perhaps they are not trying to be the sort of people who should be involved in self government, and perhaps they are not really trying to be the best versions of themselves—but whom am I to judge? (The final clause is somewhat sarcastic—but if I am meant to judge, I am also meant to act)
