Yeah Tencent - if you read Mandarin - they were trying to please the local authorities with the first numbers by making them low, but the authorities not pleased so they lowered them again. As long as the official death rate equals 2.1%, all other numbers are OK with the CCP.
The real numbers - given the horribly extreme measures now in effect - are (and I’m guessing here) likely in the 100,000 dead range and rapidly climbing.
but, to put you at ease:
its just the flu, its not a bio-weapon, and has not effected the rest of the world in any extraordinary manner, so no worries ... zzzzzzzzzz
“The real numbers - given the horribly extreme measures now in effect - are (and Im guessing here) likely in the 100,000 dead range and rapidly climbing.”
The real numbers....from WHOM? A guess?
I dont need numbers that are too low (because CCP) or numbers grossly inflated by schizos that think that because the CCP are liars, that this gives them license to just make up numbers themselves.
I agree with you that the numbers coming from China are probably grossly understated - just based on their clearly panicked actions.
But, just for the moment, let’s take the 2.1% fatality rate at face value. That is roughly 21 times the fatality rate for your garden-variety flu bug in any given year. Let’s also understand that it is roughly twice as communicable as the flu. Now put those numbers together, and you’ve got a recipe for 42 times the number of dead, vs. the flu.
Last year, we lost about 24,000 dead from the flu. Do the math on that - a million dead. Roughly equivalent on a per capita basis to all of our deaths from all causes during WW2, compacted into a single year.
