The Royal government issued two proclamations which emancipated slaves during the Revolutionary War.

Lord Dunmore’s Proclamation in November 1775.

Such a proclamation made after the path toward revolution began hardly addresses causation, does it?

Those proclamations only freed slaves willing to fight for the British. It didn’t end slavery.
