Well, I thought about it, and their debates aren't really attracting a lot of the base (never mind the "undecideds") nor is it poisoning them. The low TV ratings hint at their events being more like a bad band, playing to empty chairs.
However "RATbate" preserves the original spelling of two conjoined component words, and since the candidates are all basically on the same Marxist page, the events are just a bunch of mental self-stimulation. Sort of a "circle-jerk"...if you know what I'm sayin.
