I am in the northwest, only one county removed from the Canadian border, and we grow all kinds of stuff in our garden. There have been years where an early frost got my maters or another late producer and there are years where we have harvested them for a month. This has all happened over a 10 year period.

On the other hand, this area grows certain crops - apples, cherries, grapes, peppers, cucumbers, pumpkins, sunflowers, rape seed, wheat, and other crops very well. Those are my observations as a hobbyist who was also familiar with gardening in the south.

With modern global commerce it is irrelevant. I can go to my grocery store right now, only a few minutes down the road, and purchase fresh food grown in Mexico, South America, Canada, or Asia. I can purchase meats and seafood harvested only days ago overseas.

The overall abundance of food options has never been greater at any point in human history! The availability of quality nutritious foods has never been greater in human history.

That will not change due to an increase or decrease in temperatures of a few degrees or even ten or twenty degrees as long as we enjoy peace, prosperity, and abundant energy.

In fact, I believe it will become even better as some of the new emerging agricultural methods and technology are simply amazing! I have friends here in a northern climate who grow fresh fruits and vegetables in greenhouses as a hobby.

With cheap and abundant energy (nuclear or whatever new tech comes up) there is very little that cannot be grown efficiently in a greenhouse or on the fruited plains.

But the northeast has been experiencing some +15 degrees global warming today with rising sea levels, how can an ice age be possible?

We will adapt and overcome (our grandchildren and great-grandchildren or great-great-grandchildren) to just about any change in the climate. Consider that the UN panel, a hysterical bunch if there ever was one, only project a 1-2 degree rise.

There is good scientific data on the sun that indicates a cooling of a few degrees over the next decade.

Either way, we will be fine!

The earth rotates around the sun in an elliptical orbit. The furthest part of that rotation is called the aphelion and the nearest part the perihelion. The figure below shows when these events occur through various months of the year. Notice the perihelion phase when the southern hemisphere is going through its summer months. Decreased distance, combined with the earth's tilt toward the sun combine to create maximum solar exposure. This effect in our southern hemisphere causes global warming to the rest of the earth due to atmospheric circulation:

If this elliptical orbit were to change, where the earth's tilt is at maximum towards the sun at another part of the orbit, that would change the overall global temperatures.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Depending on latitude, every atmospheric cell is a closed system of it's own. Just like how an A/C system works, it pulls and extracts heat from one area in the cell making it colder and then dispenses it in a location opposite of it making that area warmer. So while you are +15 degrees above normal, on the other side of the globe it is -15 degrees below normal. This is where the average between the two areas is the real true indicator. One area is not setting the norm for that whole cell or the other cells.

One minute it is global warming, the next minute we are headed for an ice age, then there will be massive flooding EVERYTHING will be under water!! OMG!!! When I was in school 50 years ago they all started this BS and GEEZE we are all still here!!! Problem is they are totally brainwashing the youngsters with their hysteria and propaganda the youngsters have no idea that WE have been listening to this same BS for 50+ years!!! I wish I had saved those magazines, with the dates on them from the 60’s!!!
