Huey is a contraction of numeric designation UH-1, utility helicopter.
Official name is Iriquois.
Roger on the Huey. Just as GP light utility vehicle (General Purpose) became the Jeep. It’s what soldiers do. (As one for 20+ years, I have had the occasion to participate in using terms like REMF, CYA, and so on)
