You can download the free Microsoft Safety Scanner (MSERT.EXE), but it is only valid for 10 days.
Windows 10 here, set like win7. Browsers and windows defender are so good now that I don’t let any after market software run at startup, that stuff just hogs system and memory to make you think they are doing you good, I mean they even make their scans take longer than is needed. I do use advanced system care free to clean the registry and system occasionally, but do not let it control any aspect of my personal confuser. In the old days pc’s were not behind physical firewalls like they are now, now you have to control the software that you have installed, it will leak so much info about you if you let it. Firefox now has or uses Commodo firewall software built in.

Super Anti-Spyware Free
Avast Antivirus Free
Advanced System Care Free
IOBit Uninstaller Free
Been using those on all my computers for years without any problems.
(Except my Linux computers.)
I use Avast Free and Iobit Malware Fighter Free. Keep them up to date and scan at least weekly. Have never had a problem (though I also practice safe computing - not taking risks).
