It was Mahomes worst game as a Chief. But. The Niners got cocky, their coach made some bad decisions, and the Chiefs got an ugly TEAM victory.

Hardly his worst but far from his best, I'll grant you that. But like every real winner Mahomes rose to the occasion and did what he had to in order to get the win. Not many quarterbacks in the league can do that.

I first saw Mahomes late 2014 filling in at Texas Tech and knew within those 2-3 games he was special

I told family members who follow football but they were skeptical

You could tell right away

He can command a team...the Brady quotient....rare with today’s running quarterbacks

He can throw in the pocket....like a seasoned pro

And did I mention...yes he can run when he sees the opportunity but he is no run hog like some do today

Baring anything tragic he’s in his way to a lofty rememberance in this sport

And he’s raised right....Texas with a devoted mom and dad

>>> Hardly his worst but far from his best <<<

Not quibbling, but back-to-back picks is very un-Mahomesian.

Kittle is too big to be robbed. If a mugger tries to rob him, he will use his strength and a good straight arm to push him away and create separation.

Second one was a bit of a fluke. Poorly thrown pass, yes, but to bounce off Hill's arm and into the arms of the San Francisco defender was not something you see everyday.

I’m a Texas Tech guys, so I am a fan.

He didn’t deserve the MVP.

He had some good plays, but there were others I thought, what the hell is he doing??

I said several time in the game that I thought the Chiefs should have run more RPO to slow the pass rush that the 9er’s were getting with only their Dline. They (SF) are really good!

It’s the Super Bowl so you leave it all on the field and Mahomes plays best when he runs the RPO and gets his jersey dirty.

Just my .02

I was very happy for Andy Reid. He has always seems like a really good guy and you can tell his players truly love him so I was pulling for him.

Good reply,

I thought the game (and the lead) depended on the ebb and flow of the offensive and defensive lines. They controlled the important parts of the game and at times let the 49’rs run game out of the bag, and at other times gave Mahomes enough time to find his receiver. It is always a team game, and I suspect both QB’s know this quite well.

I do wonder what would have happened if SF had tried to run more at the end, when they went to a passing game that was all but smothered by the rush from KC. Their coaches probably knew that their guys were all but finished by then.

Still doesn’t beat Joe Montana asking the guys in the offensive huddle, “Hey, Is that John Candy up there?” Cracked them up, got them loose, the 49ers drove 90+ yards to win the game. Joe Cool.

I like Mahomes. He’s pretty cool, too!

“There is no way anyone could have foresaw how dominant Jordan would be...”

The joke around Chapel Hill used to be that “The only guy that could hold Jordan under 20 is Dean Smith.”

“Here’s the deal, you can’t build a team with one player, as Tom Brady knows. Mahomes should make sure he doesn’t suck up all the money and that some of the money is used to have the best players around him.”

Which makes my point that in this age of “Salary-cap Football” the Patriots most important asset was Gisel Bundschen. Brady could take just top-ten money among QB’s despite being the very best in the game. He could afford to. His wife was worth 4x what he was bringing home.

Brady did him one better. Does “28-3” ring a bell?

Still, barring injury, Mahomes looks to be the next killer QB in the league for the next decade or so.

He didn’t deserve the MVP.

I might have gone with Damian Williams as MVP. But Mahomes is the QB and he did lead the 21 unanswered point run so the got it for that if nothing else.

Brady was a seasoned NFL QB at the time with 15 seasons as a starter and multiple post-season games. Mohomes just finished his second year as a starter
