I agree. I used to read Col. Jeff Cooper’s column every month.
That was one of his pet peeves. Cops shackling everyone around until they determine for certain that they are no threat.
I knew a WWII pilot who later flew just about everything in the Air Force including U-2s. He and his wife were driving when the cops pulled him over, cuffed them and made them lie on the ground.
They were both in their late 60s. Their car matched the description of one used in a robbery. They did not match the suspects, two young Blacks. They were furious and rightly so.
I had that happen to me also. And I was driving a tow truck with a vehicle loaded and customers in the cab. They had us all out on the ground handcuffed. We were the wrong truck...
