Right...the nickname "Vandal" and the epithet "vandal" came into common use some time after the earliest use of the Idaho mascot.

Nonetheless, it's their nickname, and I think it's a great one, though these days the poor Vandals never do much damage to anyone, unless I've missed something.

Wow, in that case the school must be really old because the use of the word vandal as a “willful destroyer of what is beautiful or venerable” goes back to the mid 1600s.

The Tribe of Mic-O-Say is part of the Boy Scouts of America program, which was created by Harold Roe Bartle in 1925.

As someone who worked at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation in 1982 and was a student of American Humanics program at Pace University in NYC The information is correct as presented. Bartle was the Scout Executive for Kansas City for 50 years and concurrently served as mayor for two terms. He founded the scout cam that bears his name. I had 3 or 4 subcamps and served 1,000 of boys every summer.

The Tribe of Mic-O-Say was unique to the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation in scouting and was similar to the Order of the Arrow which the Kansas City Missouri council did not participate in. They had merged with the Kansas City Kansas council which did do Order of the Arrow at its camp in Kansas.

That’s horrible. I hate that.

Your story is an example of political correctness taken way too far.

Thanks for the pic. If anyone deserves a SB trophy, it’s Reid. He used to be the Packers Offensive Line coach. Just a solid coach, already among the best of all time.

“Like the Hudson River?”

Chief Hot Sun of the Hekowis lived there. This a was Anglicized to Hudson. He was impressed and grateful and gave many beaver and two daughters in appreciation.

So if you are a Chief Executive, I guess that is racist to liberals. What about FIRE CHIEFS (the head of a fire department) or POLICE CHIEFS (the head of the police department)? Are liberals nuts?

If Dan Snyder was smart...(but he isn't!) he could replace the Indian in the logo with a REDSKIN POTATO...

It would be fun to see liberals getting upset...

Charlie Tolar for the Oilers was my hero

Do you confer "hero status" on all low-IQ NFL'ers, or do you have a standard?

The Braves, the Seminoles and the Chiefs all use the tomahawk chop during games and as an enduring part of their fan cultures. The chop consists of a motion and a chant that activists have criticized for its stereotypical representation of Native culture.

Activists can kiss my Chiefs-loving, tomahawk-chopping behind.
