No, it’s real. Yes, there is some of that eye of the Beholder thing but the overall demo has gotten younger as the first crop or two of Villagers has “aged out”.
I was at the Spanish Springs square in October and the cover band was playing Black Sabbath. The music was entirely different back when I first went when my mom moved in. I realize they are adjusting entertainment but Sabbath appeals to 50-65, not 70+.

But yeah, I can imagine there’d be a wave of turnover with a younger crop replacing the older ones. But it wasn’t that long ago that 50 was considered retirement age and most such communities start at a 55 cutoff. So I imagine you are probably what was the lower end of the prime age when it was first established.
