This has been a problem for a long time, not just in Alaska but in the mainland USA and in Canada.
The movie WindRiver gave the problem a lot of publicity, but tended to blame whitey.
and the overlap of tribal police/ local police/ state police/ FBI means a lot of these crimes get overlooked: If a girl goes missing, she won’t get into the FBI database because it’s not murder or kidnapping. So if they find the body of a girl who fled and froze to death, they might not have her in the data base.
but Trump started a task force to look into it.

Thank you for your reply and linked articles.
I am largely ignorant of this issue and hope POTUS, his task force and AG Barr figure out significant ways to help this demographic.
Once again, our President is looking out for those who need it most.
