SPRUCE PINE, N.C. A cat named Perdita may be the "worst cat in the world," but a social post by a North Carolina animal shelter made her one of the most sought-after felines in the world.
According to the rescue's Facebook post, Perdita has found her forever home after 175 adoption applications were sent to the rescue
The post said that after narrowing down the applications to the top 10, staff conducted interviews, checked references and had some interactions with possible future families.
Perdita chose her adopters after a successful meet and greet, according to the post.
The post said the "world's worst cat" will be leaving for Tennessee with her new parents Saturday.
Abused and Feral = Apples and Oranges.
You dont understand Feral
There are several ways to pill uncooperative cats (& dogs).
The easiest & most successful way I’ve found, is to crush the pill into a powder and mix it into a small amount of canned food - preferably one with a strong odor/taste like fish. Make sure you only use a tablespoon or 2 of food - you want to make sure they finish it all.
Also, there are compound pharmacies in every city that will make special formulations for animals in different yummy flavors.
Also, they sell these edibles at the pet store/vet office called Pill Pockets. The center is hollow and you put the pill in there.
“You dont understand Feral”
Oh I sure do. Been there, done that.
Nothing wrong with her. She lost her human, got turned out then put in a cage. She is sad. She is just a typical cat and she needs another person to let her be a cat and take care of her.
There’s good cats and grumpy cats just like good humans and grumpy humans. Just like humans, some cats enjoy being picked up and hugged and some don’t. Boo on the shelter workers. That cat is sure enjoying his head patting so leave off picking him up. He’s far from the worst cat in the world. They said he was ok at first but then got grumpy at the shelter. Well, who wouldn’t be grumpy. Get him out of there and away from those grumpy workers and he’ll be just fine.
We’ve had wonderful ferals that become homebodies and some that remained half feral. All were/are good cats.
1/2 Feral is like 1/2 Alkie or 1/2 Queer...Dont exist.
“Feral Cat,they suck no way to sugar coat it.
Useless”
Four of our five cats were feral. They’re the most loving, sweet cats we’ve ever had. It takes a little time, and they seem to take on the personality and tone of their owners. We’re low-key, and that’s the atmosphere they’ve had. We are lucky that they found us.
It’s liquid...and my hub is able to pick him up from his little camp under our nook table. Twice a day. He gets a dose of Prozac once a day also.
can your friends, neihbors ect, pet them approach them, doubt it?
Feral cats are wild animal.
Iam out of this thread
Some can; some can’t. I don’t know what tweaks them — what makes them assess the “safety” or lack thereof. The only thing that makes them hide is the presence of little kids.
VERY FUNNY still laughing!!!
Yep. My big girl Maine Coon Bijou is laying across my keyboard as I try to type this. She is very happy I'm home after being out for a few hours, and THIS is the way she makes sure she has my undivided attention once I've returned. In doing this, she has forced me to type on the edge of the keyboard tray and has turned off the sound of my conservative radio program I was listening to. She knows what she wants and nothing stands in her way!
I've had several rescues who started out feral. After I socialized them, you couldn't fit a piece of paper between the cats and me. They followed me everywhere, slept next to me, amused me with endless antics, etc. My current little Zizu came from a cat colony outside and she is gorgeous, smart, loving, and funny as can be, causing me to hoot with laughter many times a day.
I have a feral cat. He will lay on my wife and I laps, curl up and allow us to scratch his belly. He won’t interact with anyone else. Some times me and him roughhouse. Most of the time he lets me win but occasionally he exercises dominance..Then I have scratches on the back of my hand that stay around for a couple of weeks. It’s all cool because I’m the one who initiates these confrontations.
Yeah, I’ve known a few people who have attempted to adopt feral cats and it’s never gone well.
