Why is that?
Because the N95 mask is less permeable to air, and breathing creates suction through the gaps (the area where the mask isn’t sealed on the face).
Very few pathogens actually require N95-level filtration, they are hard to fit, are uncomfortable, and they are expensive.
Coronaviruses can infect people through conjucnctivae, and people who were an unfitted N95 mask and who neglect eye protection may be doubly at risk.
