When rearing the moths, developers incorporated what they call a self-limiting gene that makes female offspring die shortly after hatching.

This sounds self-limiting.

If the moths only mate with their own they die off.

Even if they mated outside their own subgroup of moths we would hope it would have the same results; the offspring die.

I don't see how this could jump species but nature is full of surprises. What if some offspring do live and mature? What will this do to their genetic heritage? Indestructible super moths?

Keep your fingers crossed and pray for the best.

Sounds like a Simpson’s episode:

Lisa: Dad, we did something very bad!
Homer: Did you wreck the car?
Bart: No!
Homer: Did you release genetically engineered moths?
Lisa: Yes!
Homer: But the car’s okay?
Lisa / Bart: Uh-huh.
Homer: All right then.

“...Genetically engineered moths have been released into the wild to wipe out pests...”
Would that include the domestic communist party along with Deep State and all their evil, filthy ilk???

LOL

The most Hysterical thing is that these spoiled brat snowflakes would NEVER want to share everything equally.

Nor would they want to each according to his needs from each according to his ability.

Communism works if NOT ONE person out of thousands or millions wants more for themselves and their families, if not ONE person thinks that since he went to school for 8 years he should make more than a ditch digger, and if not ONE person thinks that the individual is more important than the collective.

Better chance to find the easter bunny, santa claus, the great pumpkin and a dragon sitting down to tea together.

Well that explains that. But how do explain those two shrimpy little Jap babes singing to the big bug?

Evidently even these moths won’t eat kale or collards.

Production and release of sterile male insects is OLD tech. The only thing different is the way the genetic modification/sterilization is done. Past successful efforts have used ionizing radiation.
