“Two who had pneumonia were not yet linked to the new coronavirus, Tokyo city officials said. All five patients, being treated at two Tokyo hospitals, were stable, hospital officials said.
“Later Wednesday, seven other evacuees who cleared an earlier screening on board were also found to have cough and fever in a secondary screening and were hospitalized, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said in a statement.”

Well, skepticism with Chinese officials is always reasonable, but I wasn’t meaning to say that the Chinese would lie about infections, but not dead bodies. Rather, I meant that it’s very hard to know when someone gets a lesser case of a disease, but very easy to know when they die from it. How many flu cases have there been in the U.S.? 140,000 hospitalizations... 1 million lab-test confirmations... 7 million doctor visits... 14 million estimated cases WHERE NO-ONE WENT TO THE DOCTOR? So is 8,000 dead in the U.S. flu a mortality rate of 0.8% or 0.03%?

per AFP, Indonesia’s Lions Air suspending all flights to China. I think today we may see more airlines doing the same. I imagine they are all having a hard time getting people to work the flights as the flight personal have a significantly increased risk of infection.

That presupposes that TPTB actually give a damn about the country. The very fact that Donald Trump ran for office, let alone that he was elected over intense opposition in his party and almost completely one-sided media opposition, demonstrates that a good part of the public doesn’t have that kind of faith in TPTB. For some of these people, being on top for even 1 minute is worth any kind of harm to anyone else - that is the kind of ego with which we are dealing.

I have to disagree with you.

If China was a country with a vigorous free press/media that was interested in reporting the truth, then I’d say that you are correct. However, it isn’t - quite to the contrary (I’m not even sure that OUR press/media is interested in the truth). The have in the past, almost certain do, and almost certainly will continue in the future, to lie for a host of reasons, not the least of which is to save face. Their own medical officials may know the real facts, but unless they want to lose their job or home, or rot in prison or be put up against a wall, they won’t say anything that they aren’t specifically authorized to say - especially since the entire world is watching China.
