A man is under arrest after he allegedly attacked two firefighters in Woodland on Tuesday morning.
Police say the incident started around 8:30 a.m. when Woodland Fire firefighters encountered a man blocking the intersection of Springlake Court and Pioneer Avenue. Firefighters tried to get the man to move out of the intersection, but one was then allegedly assaulted by the man.
The man then ran over to the Food 4 Less parking lot and started striking a vehicle with a camping pole causing thousands of dollars worth of damage, police say.
A firefighter was also hit by the pole, police say.
Firefighters were able to detain the man until officers showed up. He was then arrested and booked into Yolo County Jail.
No one was seriously hurt in the incident, police say.
The man, who police say has yet to be positively identified, is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and felony assault on a firefighter.
YOLO, indeed...
I know what a May Pole is, and a Christmas Pole - but never heard of a camping pole...
Tent Pole?
Of course, what do I know? I've only been camping out since I was a wee sprout.
I'll bet that you have the same type of experience.
Smith&Wesson has a tool to counter that type of behavior.
WTH is a “camping pole?
It’s like a festivus pole but with more kitch.
As a retired fire fighter who has been assaulted on duty I can confidently say this individual was not just detained until police arrived....just sayin.
He probably resisted and needed traumatic detainment.

My other thought on what the author may have been talking about was a Walking Stick such as used by hikers.
A walking stick seemed more likely.
Very few persons, even crazy persons would be casually walking around with a tent pole. A walking stick on the other hand may be fairly common in some locals.
A walking stick would also be capable of doing serious damage where a tent pole is usually not sturdy enough to do much damage for very long.
Pretty sad if the author called a walking stick a camping pole.
Something else that occurred to me about this article is that most articles like this are written from police reports. What to think of that?
