Curious Goings-on at GITMO...
Some of you may recall that(a couple of months ago) I posted OHI showing purported preparations for mooring two huge prison barges at Gitmo.
The supposed preparation was the re-building of old "Pier 'Quebec'" (aka "Pier 'Q')
The post included info that the project was "paused" for work on the outer end of the pier -- that involved diamond-coring (drilling) of some of the existing pilings:
Today, I re-visited the seismic data on the recent magnitude 7.7 earthquake (and aftershocks) in the Caribbean, near Jamaica -- and noticed that the associated fault line reportedly runs right across Guantánamo Bay.
So, out of curiosity, I used Google earth to see if I could see surface evidence of the fault line in the GITMO area. Didn't see much evidence of the fault -- BUT, when I decided to check on the progress on Pier "Q", I found a surprise: Pier "Q" is GONE!
After all those $millions supposedly spent prepping for the prison barges, the pier has been totally demolished and removed!
And, there is still no sign of those barges moored anywhere else on Guantánamo Bay!
