Years ago some friends and I rented bicycles for a ride along a beach road in Thailand.
About 1 KM down the road, we found that our tires were all all flat - punctured by things like looked like large staples bent into jacks. Looking up, it just so happened there was a road-side bicycle tire-repair shack right there....
Wow! What’s the odds of that?! You lucked out. (Nudge, nudge.)
Years ago, a buddy and I borrowed another guys jeep for a quick errand. We saw an enticing dirt road and took a left turn. About 1/2 mile down the road, we went through a large puddle that turned out to be 3 feet deep.
The guy who lived near there just happened to have a backhoe handy and for only $50 he’d be glad to pull us out.
We figured out another way.
Coincidentally, my 20 year old son lost his job a week ago when the company went bankrupt. He decided to meander down a dirt road near the shop and drove across a patch of ice that shattered underneath him. He was in a four foot deep sinkhole. His truck was totaled.
He got a new job today and starts in a week. Fortunately our other son just bought a newer car so we have an extra one laying around. He lives about 700 miles from us and will be embarking on an adventure of a Greyhound ride to get here.
For some reason, the normal $150 plane fare is $400.
