I think that’s an exaggeration to say he never made the guys around him better. He was one of the hardest workers in basketball. He didn’t get along with Shaquille O’Neal, because Shaq was lazy and didn’t practice or take things seriously. Bryant practiced relentlessly and was big on professionalism.
