A ding-dong ditch prank turned deadly after a California man rammed into a car filled with six teen boys, killing three of them, according to authorities.
The boys, who did not know 42-year-old Anurag Chandra, rang his doorbell and ran off, officials said, according to reports.
California Highway Patrol officials said Chandra then intentionally rammed his car into a Prius with the six teens inside as they were leaving the neighborhood. The Prius then struck a tree, Buzzfeed News reported.
Drake Ruiz, Daniel Hawkins and Jacob Ivascu, all 16 years old, died in the crash.

Sergio Campusano, Joshua Hawkins, Daniel’s younger brother, and Joshua Ivascu, Jacob’s younger brother, all survived the crash, according to Buzzfeed News.
Chandra has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

The worst punishment for such idiocy where I grew up was one
old guy out in the country got tired of kids driving by and smashing his mailbox with a baseball bat from the bed of a pickup truck.
So he welded one out of half inch plate steel that looked like a cheap store bought box and mounted it on a concrete filled pole.
Some hooligan broke his arm one night, but no permanent damage was done.

Life’s hard. It’s even harder if you’re stupid.
We used to do this when we were about 12 years of age. It really does not warrant a death sentence even when done by a group of 16 year olds.
I learned as a youngster not to “mess around” with someone you did not know.

I think it odd the boys drove to the house.
My suburban neighborhood is full of teenagers and this has happened maybe one time in nearly 10 years. I would think this is not a wise prank in the age of door bell cameras.

There are no heroes in this story. But no undeserving victims either. Kind of a wash.
Gallows humor. Nobody here wished death on these kids, obviously.
It seems like there might be some more to this story. Doesn’t really make sense.
Generally, but we have not seen both sides of this story. My guess is that they knew the guy had mental issues and were pulling his chain to get a reaction . . . well, they did get more than they expected.
Yeah, that was more a thing for when you’re on foot and can take off running.
They are just telling stupid jokes. No one thinks it is justified. Ramming someone’s car for ringing a doorbell, heck that’s nuts.
We just can’t get past the CA nuttiness of it.

What does that MEAN. Was he a mother, father, 16, a teen a brother, a sister, and if so, why was he taking them out in the Prius to ring doorbells?

I was thinking that too. Not too brilliant on the part of the kids to try that prank, with that POS.
Rule numb3er one when you grow up in an urban area - do not mess with ANYONE who seems to be strange or nutty. Give them a wide berth while avoiding their eyes.
You never know when they are the one who may turn around and push you on the railroad track as the train comes by simply for a word or sideways glance. Or shoot you. Or something.
Strange people are to be avoided, not taunted.
