Remember H1N1?
I’m all for being safe, but it is scary watching people lose their minds!
I do remember that... We were calling it The swine flu and the government got mad... Lol. The government was really pushing that vaccine. There was a lot of conspiracy theories going around about it... Ahh the good old days...
I hope this just goes away with minimal casualties.
H1N1 did not necessitate the quarentene11-40 million people, nor cause the PLA to be deployed.
I’m watching it because
1) it’s China,and one assumes they’re lying,
2) they’ve “quarantined” over 40 million people and have taken other measures never before taken there,
3) and infectious disease, especially new strains interest me. I’m a nurse.
I do.
China being a police state and all, people will do as they’re told and stay indoors for fear of being arrested as ‘traitors’ and disappeared. Which will contain their little Chernobyl moment. It’s up to the rest of the world to mop up the singular cases quickly and effectively.
perspective: Tens of millions catch the flu each year. The USA was able to easily handle around a quarter of a million people hospitalized with flu in 2017-18, so it’s unlikely there will be any collapse of our ability to cope with another flu because we have so many well-equipped medical facilities in every state. As always, the best defense is a strong immune system, and handwashing, handwashing, handwashing. (and a pneumonia shot, good for 10 yrs, is also a good idea)
