Flyers mascot Gritty under investigation for assault of teen

ritty, the Philadelphia Flyers’ fuzzy, orange mascot, is under investigation for an alleged physical assault of a 13-year-old boy during a photo shoot at the team’s stadium back in November, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.

Chris Greenwell, the boy’s father and a longtime season ticket holder, wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday that his son, Brandon, was “punched and injured” by Gritty, and that the organization “tried to bribe me not to speak about it.”

I'm surprised that Gritty wasn't accused of throwing snowballs and
batteries at Santa Clause as well...

The actual story is that the father initially contacted the Flyers that he
didn't like the picture from the meet and greet before bringing up
the hitting incident which he didn't bother doing anything about until a week
after the incident. He asked for a bunch of stuff from the Flyers and wasn't
satisfied with what they offered. Sounds like he was trying to milk them.

"After the alleged punch, Greenwell emailed officials at Comcast
Spectacor, first complaining of the “lousy picture” with the mascot who
didn’t look at the camera. Then he raised the “more serious and disappointing”
concern."

Actually the kid tapped Gritty on his head three times,then Gritty responded. He should have known better.

No video according to all the news reports. I’ll see if I can find the info about tapping him on the hsad.
