Have you considered a wireless trackball?

I have been using the Logitech wireless trackballs for years.

When my husband built the professional video studio around me, he wrote our edit controller and I had to work with the wireless track ball to edit. Used it there for years and,when he brought the system home, for even more years. But for the photo work I do, it still doesn’t have the precision I need. Nothing works for photo work but a pen and tablet. The art is finding the right size. Too large and you’ll get your shoulder sore moving your arm so much. Too small and you won’t have enough precision under your pen tip.
