Back in the day, at least it was about the potential for global nuclear holocaust. Now I'm sure they're factoring in the "climate" nonsense, too. Boring.

It is entirely probable that the existence of nuclear weapons over the past 70 years has avoided yet another, and probably even more horrifying conventional world war, compared to the first two.

Deterrence requires a horrible, terrifying deterrent.
And the prospect of nuclear war has eliminated any possible outcome that could be worth the cost of such a conflict.

And BTW, we need to renew our nuclear deterrent, those weapons are getting very old, and deterrence only works when both sides play, and Russia and China are renewing theirs.

Hmmm...are they estimating the age of the universe at 9493 years? 86400/100 * 11 = 9504 - 11 = 9493.

The biblical estimate is something over 6000 years.

Good to see these old frauds are still around. I’ve never been sure exactly what an “atomic scientist” is, but apparently they possess mad cross-discipline skillz with regard to meteorology - the sky is made up of atoms, after all. So, for that matter, is my car and I wish they’d get busy with the oil change - at least it isn’t grifting off a terrified public.
