I dunno about posting on redditt, I onsider it a good day when I can figure out how to read redditt.
However, the consensus is that we prefer to have a little of the post, like, maybe the part you are replying to, quoted in some fashion. Today I was on the iPad...almost impossible to do the post # thing. And on my phone, it is impossible. So, since it's the author's job to entice the reader to "Read on, McDuff", an author should make it as easy as possible for the reader to get the message, without having to suss out the details.
So as Ransomnote has requested in one of the first 10 or so posts in every thread...it is polite to do the quote thing.
What is the great deal about redditt? Know what I like to do? I like to listen to the posts! Youtube has a gazillion of them when a natty British sounding little guy reads the posts. Sadly, he's self censoring - they won't even let him say "bully"!
I’ve slept since then, I was mostly just teasing. To a certain extent, I like FR’s stone age web feel.
Reddit has a feature where replies to comments are nested like:
Original comment
reply 1
reply 1(a)
reply 2
etc. This makes threads there a bit more readable/coherent.
The also have an ‘upvote’ system where comments which receive more upvotes show up at the top. while comments which are downvoted migrate to the bottom.
It makes for an entertaining experience, if you (for example) browse the funny animal pictures subforum, you’ll see the most popular posts at the top etc. (mind you, there is a time decay factor so things don’t stay at the top forever)
Anyway, FR isn’t like that, and is in some ways superior, as things maintain more chronological coherence. And I’m sure the mgmt. isn’t interested in reworking the forum code at this point, so I doubt it’s going to change.
As it is, I’m mostly in this thread to lurk, and to very occasionally snark, trying to catch up on the day’s events, ya know.
And hoping that someone in the senate will have the (ahem, fortitude) to publicly play the video of Joe bragging about his QPQ.
