I know, as a native Californian I’m a big artichoke fan, hearts and the whole artichoke. I was asking her about the salsa.

Rusty I should have been more to the point...IT'S ME who is a stranger to artichokes and artichoke hearts....I never knew I had ever eaten them..lol So it was me who was surprised they were used and probably quite a lot in Italian dishes. Sorry....I'm NOT an avocado or cilantro person. I now know to ask the waitress if cilantro is in the dish. Chefs go crazy with the stuff!
