Why do people like Bolton Hillary, Comey, Clapper, Brennan and others continue to have security clearances in effect after they are no longer serving in the government anyway?
IMHO they should lose their security clearances the minute their employment or position as an elected official ends.

I always wondered that. If there is some obscure reason that they need to continue clearance, then they should have to re-apply and go under HEAVY scrutiny.

My husbands best friend is retired SS and other things like Homeland etc. Like military they sign on to be recalled to duty at a moments notice if needed. This is the biggest reason security clearances remain in place.
