New Albany High School opened in 1853. It is the first public high school in the state. The current site of the high school opened in 1927. Latest update was 2002.

NIKK..I was on the committee to keep the front part of the high school. Several wanted to take down the school and build a new one. Our school has lots of history. Our partitions saved the entire front of the yellow brick. They added new to the sides and back. The front of the building ended up not being the front only on the main street. While the new front was in the back as pictured in the bottom photo. In the second picture if you look closely you can see some of the yellow brick of the older part. They designed new and connected it to the old. I'm am so proud I stood with others to fight for our old historical school.
