found an article by politico on 01/29/2020 that reported this:

Chief Justice John Roberts has communicated to senators that he will not read aloud the alleged Ukraine whistleblower’s name or otherwise publicly relay questions that might out the official, a move that’s effectively blocked Sen. Rand Paul from asking a question.

but there's no source. and I haven't, as yet, found the list of questions that the CJ read.

I know the CJ named both men in the 2nd question because my reaction was WTH.

He read it very slowly and that was weird too.

I think one of the authors of the question was Grassley, maybe, and a couple of others.
