Great rally ping,Dolly!

The beaches in the Wildwoods are free,I believe they are the only free beaches left in NJ.

All other beaches require you buy a daily or weekly beach tag which you must wear at all times on your bathing suit—and yes, being NJ, they have badge checkers roaming around!

There are three Wildwoods—North Wildwood, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest.

As you go south the beaches get progressively larger. The beaches grow every year by a few inches, due to the Gulf Stream depositing sand there as it comes around the Cape May peninsula.

We vacationed many times in Wildwood Crest, just south of where the Convention Center is. The sand is very fine, and the water is about a quarter mile from the hotel end of the beach. Just beautiful.

The beaches have lifeguards in the summer and they are raked clean every morning. Lots of Canadians vacationed there in the 60s to the 90s, as you could get there in one day’s travel time (long day).

Lots of hotels/restaurants, and south of there is the beautiful Victorian resort of Cape May,NJ.That is a magical place to go to in the summer and shoulder seasons(crowded as you can imagine and very upscale). It has been a seaside resort since the 1830s. Many fines examples of Victorian architecture remain and there are hotels and B&Bs. Shopping too!

There is a ferry from Cape May to Delaware, and we live 12 minutes from that ferry on the DE side. When we visit our family in NJ, we take the ferry from Lewes,DE to Cape May, get on the Garden State Parkway and head north. You tell others where you live by what exit of the Parkway or NJ Turnpike you live near. I used to live near Exit 82 of the Parkway, hence my FR screenname.

The huge boardwalk is in the City of Wildwood, and is world famous. Lots of attractions, amusement rides and trams, like the one shown in the picture in front of the Convention Center.

If you have ever walked those boards, you will hear “Watch the cars, please. Watch the cars” as the trams go up and down the boardwalk among the thousands of people walking there.

Another Wildwoods tradition is the playing of the National Anthem at 11:00 am each morning. Etiquette requires everyone to stop where they are and be respectful while it is played.

Nice place for families to vacation and for conventions, especially for beach lovers. The surf is usually gentle.

Hope everyone will come, because your tourist dollars help these folks pay their ridiculously high taxes!!!!!
