It’s either that, aliens, or both. I’ve seen articles that speculate that a lot of our One thing is true: Aliens capable of interstellar travel can probably destroy our civilization (race) without breaking a sweat. If they decide that’s what they want to do, we probably can’t do a whole lot about it. So why worry?

True. The saving grace is it requires some pretty advanced tech to traverse interstellar space. One hopes that any alien civilization old enough to have developed such tech will also have a level of intellectual maturity to where they have no need to eradicate us. My guess would be they know of our existence and being curious, want to observe us without direct interaction. They would likely be aware that direct interaction at this time in our development would be disruptive, to them as well as us.

Yup. The universe (or even the galaxy) is an awfully big place. While humans are obsessed with gathering/owning resources, it is all within the context of this planet. Any race with access to the entire universe would hopefully consider the resources of this planet insignificant in the grand scheme of things. So no need to conquer Earth. They may also be keeping an eye on us to ensure we do not develop into a threat.

Sometimes I muse that Liberals are a key part of that particular Alien plot. Liberal policies will ensure we are stupid and Earthbound for the next few Millenia or so.
