Yet, like Trump, she and her followers don’t care whether they take control of the Democrat party or blow it up in favor of a new one that unquestionably supports their agenda. Trump needed the positioning and fund-raising and campaign infrastructure the Republican party gave him, but if an alternative arose, aka “MAGA Party”, I’ll bet most us would be right onboard with him.
I think that President Trump would like to have the Republican party support him, but he won't let their resistance stop him; it's just another obstacle for him to overcome.
On the other hand, as you point out, Ocasio-Cortez doesn't want the Democrat party support; she wants to oust the "old guard" and remake the party into a socialist party.
Along those lines, I wonder if President Trump hopes that the Republican leadership will see the light and come to his side. Ocasio-Cortez doesn't want the Democrat leadership to join her; she sees them as the problem and wants them gone.
