My boss told me to shut up about Trump so I plan to wear RED all next week during Impeachment Trial.

I cannot go into details because I don't want to harm the innocent parties involved, but here is the basic true story:

My workplace is exceedingly liberal. A few conservatives, but we're outnumbered. I don't hide my views, but I also don't get in fights with others. Honestly.

Seven or eight months ago, maybe longer, I was told my comments offended people and could get me fired. I asked what the specific comments were, and no one could tell me. The response was basically "We all have heard you say things..."

A few days into the new year, I was again read the riot act, told that if I offend anyone else I will lose my job. One of the bosses (there were two) told me not to even talk about the weather or sports. Only work related words should be coming out of my mouth.

I told them I have been very careful about using any language that could be construed as offensive. I asked again for what exactly was my offense. No one could give me a quote.

So, I am doing my best to watch out. I am a good employee and have been that a long time.

What I think I'll do this week is wear RED (not a hat of course LOL) during my work hours. The red will be in solidarity with MAGA. I will do my best to remain quiet.

It was honestly a mistake for me.

I should have either said nothing, or taken that as a sign it was time to move on.

What I did was the one thing you should never do as an employee. I made my bosses look foolish. At that point, any further advancement was blocked. My game of “poke the bear” ended my path there.

Not saying I would have donated to UW. I won’t willing support infanticide. But I would have tried a different tactic that would have possibly allowed the narcissist save face. Challenging a narcissist in power over you never ends well.

[[Exactly. My liberal sister tells me she does NOT want to talk about politics & then proceeds to bring up politics. She’s allowed. Not me.]]

Same thing in our family- and the anger they display is truly kinda frightening- unhinged-

[[... and be escorted out the door.]]

That’s fine- it’s just a matter of time before that person gets fired anyways- The writing is on the wall

You will have to move on. If they’ve already been overt, then the knives have already been sharpened. Get that resume fixed up. Sorry to be a doom and gloomer ... but I’ve been there and done that.

It's not just kives sharpened. If management isn't even willing to back you up, my guess is they completely agree with everyone else. And guess what that does for your chances of promotion? Any ability to move up with the company? I would definitely polish up your resume, and start looking for a position elsewhere.

Or, if you're in a bigger company, you may be able to go a head or two above your current supervisor, and discuss the situation with them. They *may* be more open to your side and be willing to help out. Maybe transfer to another department or location.
