Pure conjecture on itmy part but maybe we are not as likely to protest because that is a word we have been conditioned to use whenever any group of like-minded people gather and it conjures up images of violence and chaos.
Perhaps a more persuasive term to use to get more citizens involved would be a call to peacefully assemble.
Obviously the Fake News Media would call any such assembly a protest but that doesn't mean we have to use it.

I had considered adding that to what I wrote, but I thought it would be too provocative.
But I agree, and I would say look at my tagline to see why the media has polluted the concept to keep us from doing it.
They don't want us protesting, because they know. Public meetings are superior to newspapers. They all know it.
