He was perceived by the donors and fans to not have done well. His publicly reported drinking problems didnt help.
You might add that he is reported to have been in a bar room brawl in hte '90's. Oh, horrors! He would have been a misfit among the big donors at the Bel Air Country Club.
Coach O’s determination to return USC football to glory was also likely at odds with the current worldview of USC’s leadership, which is increasingly committed to turning USC into a world-class Pacific Rim institution with a globalist outlook that would have little use for football, a uniquely American sport little understood outside this country.
Ed O was reported to have been drunk at a practice or something; I don’t remember the details.
USC apparently wasn’t a good fit for him. They’ve been mediocre for a while.
LSU reaps the benefits!
I thought Sarkisian was the one who was drunk.
No, he absolutely was not. You're thinking of his successor Seven-Win Steve, aka Cutty Sark, a sot who was canned midway through his second season at USC.
Coach O loved USC and was very popular with the team members and the fans. Had he been retained and had the university administration been willing to pay for the staff that he wanted, he would have led the Trojans back to glory.
Yes, he's the one.
I would go as far to say, if Clemson had won, it would be the greatest coaching job Dabo has or will ever do in his career. This year’s Clemson team was nowhere near as good as last year’s team was.
The only disappointment was that Lawrence didn’t play better, or else the game would have been closer.
Ah!
Obviously didn’t recheck my (failing) memory. Thanks for the correction.
Wonder why Orgeron didn’t work out then?
He certainly got the job done at LSU!
And USC is sort of floundering...
I have never seen Trojan fans more demoralized since the school administration's decision to retain Clueless Gomer as head coach. The first game next season is against Alabama, and everyone predicts the Tide will roll over the Trojans like a tsunami. The following season, the Trojans play UC Davis, a Division 1AA team, which will take away our ability to boast that we never play Division 1AA teams.
These days, there's no joy in Troy.
I hate all the new penalties
Ruined the game
Lawyers
And hes dreamy like Brady
Femalion fans and wives will love him
My rib sure does
Here you go...dont believe the hype from Butthurt LSU HATERS here

I, along with many, many Trojan fans think that Pat Haden, worst athletic director in USC's history and Max Nikias, the worst president in the school's history would be perfectly capable of doing something like that.
