How did the Houston Astros hitters so easily pound three of the Dodgers hottest pitchers in two key games in Houston in the 2017 World Series?
Players could easily see the catchers signs, decode them, then relay the information by banging a trash can with a bat to indicate which pitch was coming.
This could not only help explain how the Astros won eight of nine games at home during that postseason, but also specifically how they could have so badly beaten three hot Dodger pitchers.
Darvish entered his Game 3 start with a 1.58 ERA in two previous postseason starts. Yet with noise from the trash cans apparently filling the dugout, he allowed four runs in the second inning.
Kershaw had pitched the best big game of his career in the series opener by allowing one run over seven innings while striking out 11 and walking none. Yet in Game 5, with the dugout TV glowing, he gave up a four-run lead and a three-run lead while being hammered for six runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Morrow allowed two runs in 12 1/3 previous postseason innings, but then suddenly in Game 5 he couldnt get an out, allowing four runs on a homer, single, double and homer.
The Dodgers lost two of three in Houston, limped back to Los Angeles trailing three games to two in the series, and never regained their mojo.
Seriously, why is that Commissioners Trophy still in their Houston offices? Why cant they at least have the decency give it back?

But Muh “Pete Rose”.
Rose bet on his own team to WIN.
What does Pete Rose have to do with this?
I could ‘try’ to feel bad for the Dodgers.
But as a Giants fan I curse every time the Dodgers team plane lands safely.
April 1st can’t come soon enough !!!
Check out the completely out of balance offensive home and away ‘splits’ for Houston during the 2017 postseason K. Very plain to see they had bigly help at home.
LOL!

I grew up in L.A. The Giants’ fans’ hatred for the Dodgers was reciprocated. It’s amazing that the cross-town rivalry in NY was successfully transplanted to the West Coast. We only got to see 9 games a year on TVthe Giants’ games of course.
Realizing many are Yankee haters buuuuuut, baseball was cheated out of a Dodgers Yankees World Series in 2017. But for the cheating, the Yankees make it. They forced a Game 7 and barely lost. They lost all the road games.
Umm the Stros were better on the road than at home, splain that !
No, you don't actually have to "throw" a game. Just leave your pitcher in for a batter or two after you might have pulled him in other circumstances. No one would ever know...
Excellent point.
What a stain on The Astro players. All guys I like. Altuve, Correa, Bregman and Springer. Cheaters all.
Sorry but Houston deserved to win. They were the better team. They scored more runs and that’s just for starters.
I see Koufax there. Juan Marichal. John Roseboro....good times...
The Dodgers lost because they choke in the big games
And Kershaw is not a clutch player.
Well said. Those in support of reinstating Pete Rose and his eventual induction to the Hall of Fame, often use the argument that he bet on the Reds to win. And then they question, to paraphrase, what is the big deal, if he was confident in his team winning.
This is gonna be an interesting thread....
I posted on the 2017 ‘post season’ offensive splits of the 2017 Astros.
What about all the times he didn’t bet on them to win?
