I had the first chance to hear Romo at length over the weekend.
Verdict: He sucks.
That’s your opinion. I think he’s fun and informative, and all my friends who hated him as a player feel the same. He’s very popular which is obvious by the high asking price.
He sucks.
He suck better than some of the others who really suck bad.
I liked Robert Smith of the vikings and his commentary.
Very well spoken and very knowledgeable
Growing up a Redskin fan, never liked the Cowboys and though he did show some grit playing hurt, I always (somewhat) respectfully rooted against Tony Romo. But I was pleasantly surprised with his work in the booth. He does still have a boyish enthusiasm, he is entertaining, good personality and humble with a little self-deprecatinon thrown in for good measure, and he does know football and the modern day mechanics of the game. A whole lot better than Witten for sure. Aikman knows his stuff as well but he’s a dud as far as voice and personality goes.
With that said, last night, Romo wasn’t at his best and as the game changed dramatically, was going a little overboard jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon.
Romo has a lot of decent insights into flow of play calling and vulnerabilities, but like most announcers still gets rules wrong.
Hes a huge step up from guys like Fouts, who cant even describe what hes looking at.
